Carl Russo, President and Chief Executive Officer
Carl is president and CEO of Calix and a member of the board of directors. Carl has over 25 years of experience in the networking and telecommunications industries. Prior to taking an active role with Calix in December 2002, Carl was a member of the Calix board of directors. Before that, Carl was vice president of optical strategy and group vice president of optical networking for Cisco. Carl joined Cisco in 1999 as a result of the acquisition of Cerent Corporation, where he was president and CEO. Before Cerent, Carl was COO at Xircom (later acquired by Intel), where he was responsible for sales, marketing, development, and manufacturing of all Xircom products. Carl has also held executive management positions at Network Systems Corporation (later acquired by StorageTek) and at AT&T Paradyne. At Network Systems, Carl was the senior vice president and general manager for the Hyperchannel Networking Group, and at AT&T Paradyne he was vice president and general manager of the data networking products division. Carl serves on the board of directors of Vital Network Services, Inc. Carl attended Swarthmore College and serves on its board of managers.
Andy Lockhart, Senior Vice President, International Sales and Marketing
Andy is senior vice president, international sales and marketing, with responsibility for the establishment and development of international business for Calix. Andy joined Calix after over 20 years at Cisco, where he held a wide range of international and cross-cultural leadership roles. Andy was instrumental in establishing several of Cisco's key international business operations, including Cisco Japan, the Asia Pacific partner network, the UK sales operation, and the European service provider organization. He also led a number of significant Cisco international organizations, serving as vice president responsible for Cisco in Japan, Northern Europe, and the Benelux countries. Andy is a dual British-Canadian citizen and has trilingual capabilities in English, French, and Japanese. He holds an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business and a BSEE from the University of British Columbia.
John Colvin, Senior Vice President, North American Sales and Marketing
John is senior vice president of North American sales and marketing for Calix. John is responsible for all customer-facing functions, including sales, field marketing, and customer support. John has over 23 years of experience in the networking and telecommunications industries. Before joining Calix in April, 2004, John was senior director of business development at Cisco, where he assisted in driving overall sales strategy and portfolio direction in the global service provider market. John joined Cisco in 1999 as a result of the acquisition of Cerent Corporation, where he was director of national carrier sales. Prior to Cerent, John was account vice president for AT&T at Alcatel. During the first half of his eight-year career with Alcatel, John was the manager responsible for day-to-day engineering activities, sales support, and program management of projects with AT&T, MCI, and Sprint. John joined Alcatel through its acquisition of Rockwell International, where he was a systems engineer. Earlier, John was an engineer with NEC America. John has a BS in electrical engineering from Texas A&M University.
Mark Dressler, Vice President, Major Account Sales
Mark is vice president of major account sales for Calix. Mark leads sales groups focused on tier-one and tier-two US service providers as well as all service providers in the Caribbean and South America. Before joining Calix, Mark held a variety of senior sales, marketing, and business development roles at Nortel, most recently serving as director of market development for broadband networks. Prior to Nortel, Mark held various senior engineering and management positions in the software industry. Mark holds a BS in electrical engineering from Purdue University.
Nathan Harrell, Vice President, National Account Sales
Nathan is vice president of national account sales at Calix, focused on tier-two U.S. service providers. An industry veteran, Nathan has over 25 years of experience in generating growth with successful companies. Prior to Calix, Nathan was vice president of sales at Occam Networks (acquired by Calix). Nathan also served as vice president of sales (Americas) for Redback Networks. Before that, he served in several capacities at Cisco Systems, including area director for the greenfield area and operations director/general manager positions for both the Qwest and Sprint accounts. Earlier in his career, Nathan held positions at Telco Systems as vice president of sales, Sprint as director of national sales and Scientific Atlanta.
Skip Hirvela, Vice President Regional Sales, West
Skip is vice president of regional sales for Calix focused on the Western US. Skip is responsible for all direct sales activities with service providers in this region. A 20 year veteran of the telecommunications and networking industry, Skip previously was a regional sales manager at Calix, leading targeted sales teams to market leadership positions across numerous geographies. Prior to Calix, Skip held numerous sales and marketing roles at the director or manager level at a variety of telecommunications firms, including Myrio, NetworkTwo Communications, DecisionOne, Reltec, and AT&T Global Information Systems. Skip holds a BS degree in business administration from Miami University and an MBA from the University of Dayton.
David Seda, Vice President, Field Marketing
David is vice president of global field marketing, responsible for the marketing of Calix systems and solutions. He joined Calix in August 2011 with 24 years of international experience in networking, consumer electronics, and enterprise technologies. He spent 13 years at Cisco, most recently serving as managing director and general manager of West Africa Sales. Previously, in London he was head of marketing for Cisco Europe, Middle East & Africa (EMEA), helping establish Cisco's presence in emerging markets. Earlier at Cisco headquarters, David was senior director of corporate marketing, where he developed strategic global marketing programs. At Hewlett Packard, David was vice president of marketing for EMEA. Before HP and Cisco, he spent 10 years at Apple in engineering, marketing, and later as senior director of communications reporting to the Apple CEO. David holds an MBA from Texas Tech University and Bachelor's degrees in Computer Science, Economics, and Business Management from Graceland University in Iowa. He is currently a guest lecturer at the Helsinki School of Economics in Finland.
Omar Ramadan, Vice President, Global Customer Services
Omar is vice president of global customer services for Calix. He has over 15 years of customer service experience in the networking and telecommunications industries. Omar oversees all aspects of customer support, training, documentation, and web-based tools. Prior to joining Calix, Omar was with Advanced Fibre Communications (AFC) working in a number of support-related positions, most recently as director of technical services. At AFC, Omar was responsible for building a technical organization that supported over 750 North American service providers. Before AFC, Omar managed installation activities of outside plant loop electronics at DSC (now part of Alcatel). Omar earned a BS in electrical engineering from Texas A&M University.
Michael Ashby, Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer
Michael is executive vice president and chief financial officer of Calix, and a member of the board of directors. Prior to Calix, Michael was vice president of finance at Cisco, with responsibility for financial planning and investor relations. Michael joined Cisco in 1999 as a result of the acquisition of Cerent Corporation, where he was CFO. Prior to Cerent, Michael was executive vice president and CFO of Ascend Communications (later purchased by Lucent). Earlier, Michael was vice president and CFO at Pacific Telesis Enterprise Group, a division of Pacific Telesis Group, Inc. (later purchased by SBC Communications). Michael has also held the executive management positions of CFO, president, and CEO at Network Systems Corporation, and CFO of Teradata Corporation. Michael currently serves on the Board of Directors and chairman of the audit committee of Canary Foundation, a non-profit organization devoted exclusively to early detection of cancer.
Kevin Pope, Senior Vice President, Systems Software Development
As senior vice president, systems software development, Kevin is responsible for all Calix systems software. An industry veteran, he has more than 25 years of experience in engineering management and product development. Before joining Calix, Kevin was vice president of engineering for Hammerhead Systems and co-founder and vice president of engineering for Mahi Networks. Before founding Mahi Networks, he served as vice president of development engineering for Applied Digital Access. Kevin has held roles in marketing and design at ASEA HAFO and as a member of the technical staff at AT&T Bell Labs. Kevin has a BSEE from the University of Minnesota, an MSEE/CS from the University of California at Berkeley, and an MBA from San Diego State University.
Todd Ortberg, Senior Vice President, Business Development
Todd is senior vice president of business and market development for Calix. Todd has 24 years of experience across the communications, networking, and software industries. Before joining Calix, he was president and CEO of network software technology vendor Alvarri. Prior to Alvarri, Todd was managing director of Coral Capital Management, where he led communications investments in dozens of venture backed companies. Todd has also held leadership roles at ADC Telecommunications, where he served as vice president and general manager of its Cable Access Systems division and vice president of engineering. Prior to ADC Todd held numerous marketing and engineering management positions with Rockwell International and Texas Instruments, and was an adjunct faculty member at Upper Iowa University, where he taught Business Strategy. Todd has an MBA from the University of Iowa and a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from Iowa State University.
Tony Banta, Senior Vice President, Manufacturing Operations
Tony is senior vice president of manufacturing operations for Calix with responsibility for all aspects of worldwide manufacturing and supply chain operations. Before joining Calix in September 2005, Tony held a variety of senior manufacturing positions at Cisco, including vice president of worldwide operations. Tony joined Cisco as a result of its acquisition of Grand Junction Networks, where he was vice president of manufacturing. Previously, Tony held senior management positions with Vitalink Communications and Teledyne MEC. Tony has a BS in aeronautics from San Jose State College, an MS in aeronautical engineering from Wichita State University, an MBA from Golden Gate University, and served ten years in the U.S. Air Force.
Mimi Gigoux, Senior Vice President, Talent and Culture
Mimi is senior vice president of talent and culture for Calix. Mimi has over 27 years of experience within the networking and telecommunications industries. Before joining Calix, she was senior vice president of human relations for Ethernet switching vendor Extreme Networks. Prior to Extreme, Mimi was responsible for leading the worldwide human relations organization for Harris Stratex. Mimi also founded Tribal Works Consulting, providing consulting services to public and private companies. Prior to Tribal Works, Mimi held numerous human resources leadership positions at Redback Networks, Digital Fuel, NeoForma, and Mirapoint Technologies. Earlier in her career, she served in various human resources leadership roles at Cisco Systems, leading programs for several Cisco business units, and served as an internal consultant for organizational change management.
Mehdi Bradaran, Vice President, Systems Hardware Development
As vice president of systems hardware development, Mehdi is responsible for all Calix systems hardware. In this role Mehdi oversees all aspects of the Calix Development Center operations in China, as well as the engineering services team responsible for all mechanical design and regulatory compliance activities. Mehdi has over 28 years of development and operations experience in the aerospace and telecommunications industries. Prior to joining Calix, Mehdi held management positions at DSC/Alcatel and led engineering teams in hardware development and system integration of next generation digital loop carriers. Mehdi has also held various development and management positions at Lear Astronics and PowerTec. He holds a BSEE from Utah State University and an MSEE from West Coast University.
Robert Balsamo, Vice President, Product Strategy
Robert is vice president of product strategy and leads the systems engineering and architecture team that is responsible for specifying the system/product architectures and the detailed engineering requirements for Calix's product solutions, as well as all systems product marketing and management. He has over 25 years of experience in data communication and telecommunications, in which the majority has been in access networks. In his previous senior management positions at AT&T Paradyne and Paradyne, his responsibilities included VP of product Management, marketing and business development and VP of global carrier markets. Additionally, Robert spent several years at Tellabs where he was responsible for international marketing of their carrier class router/switch products specifically designed for Tier 1 carriers.
Miguel Alonso, Vice President, Software Products
Miguel is vice president of software products and leads the product marketing, product development, and network operations organizations responsible for the delivery of all Calix Software Products. Prior to his current role, Miguel held a variety of business and product management responsibilities at Calix. Miguel brings over 20 years of experience in the industry and perspectives from a number of different communications companies, including Advanced Fibre Communications (AFC), where he was director of sales, responsible for all sales activities in Latin America and the Caribbean. Miguel has also held engineering, technical marketing, and technical sales support roles at Phonic Ear, Olivetti and Hewlett Packard. Miguel has a Telecommunications Engineering degree from the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya in Spain.
Jill Von Berg, Vice President, Information Technology
Jill is vice president of information technology with responsibility for all aspects of global IT strategy and operational direction. She has over 25 years of experience in high tech industries and leading multi-national IT organizations. Prior to joining Calix, Jill was vice president of Corporate IT at McKesson and held management positions at Hewlett Packard. Previously Jill directed global IT services for the ABB Group, was assistant vice president for technology at ABB Power in Switzerland and held management positions at GE Aircraft Engines, Ohio. She began her career as a gas turbine design engineer with Rolls-Royce in the UK. Jill holds a BS in Engineering from the University of Leicester, England.
Denis Quinlan, General Counsel
Denis Quinlan is general counsel for Calix. Denis oversees all legal and regulatory aspects of Calix's business. Denis has over 20 years of diverse experience in the practice of law. Prior to joining Calix, Denis served as senior counsel to Motorola, Inc., supporting its Wireline Access Networks businesses. He had rejoined Motorola via its acquisition of Next Level Communications, Inc., where he served as associate general counsel. Denis spent time abroad as general counsel to Cesky Mobil, a wireless telecommunications operator in the Czech Republic. Before that, he served a prior term with Motorola, where he helped build that company's extensive portfolio of ownership interests in international wireless operating companies. He has also worked as counsel to insurance-industry giant Aon Corporation and as a litigator with the law firm of Baker & McKenzie. Denis is a graduate of Loyola University of Chicago (BA in English), and received his JD from the University of Illinois College of Law.
Don Listwin, Chairman
Don Listwin is founder and chairman of Canary Foundation, a non-profit organization devoted exclusively to early detection of cancer. A 30-year veteran of the networking industry, Don was CEO of Openwave from 2000 to 2004 and held senior executive positions at Cisco Systems between 1990 and 2000. Don serves on the board of directors of Clustrix Inc., Genologics Life Sciences Software Inc., Teradici Corporation, and Joyent, Inc., each a privately-held company. Don is a member of the board of scientific advisors of the National Cancer Institute, a research and development center. Don holds an honorary Doctorate of Law degree from the University of Saskatchewan and a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Saskatchewan.

Kevin DeNuccio, Director
Kevin DeNuccio has over 25 years of leadership experience at communications technology companies and service providers worldwide. Most recently, Kevin served as CEO of Metaswitch Networks from 2010 until June of 2012 when he transitioned to a director position on the Metaswitch Board. Prior to 2010, Kevin served as CEO of Redback Networks, where he helped the company become the fastest growing vendor in its market segment, leading to its $2.1 billion acquisition by Ericsson in 2007. From 1995 to 2001, he held a number of executive positions at Cisco Systems, including senior vice president of worldwide service provider operations. Prior to Cisco, Kevin was founder, president, and CEO of Bell Atlantic Network Integration, a wholly owned subsidiary of Bell Atlantic (now Verizon Communications). In addition to Calix and Metaswitch, he also currently serves on the Boards of SanDisk and Northeastern University.
Michael Everett, Director
Michael Everett has over 30 years of financial, legal, and general management experience, including two different stints in China. Prior to Michael's retirement from Cisco in 2008, Michael served as a vice president of finance at Cisco Systems, Inc. and before that was chief financial officer of WebEx Communications prior to Cisco's $3.2 billion acquisition of the web collaboration leader. Prior to joining WebEx, Michael was chief financial officer of several public and private companies, including Netro Corporation, a broadband wireless equipment manufacturer that he led through a successful IPO in 1999, and Raychem Corporation, a Fortune 500 telecommunications and electronic components supplier. Before joining Raychem in 1987, he practiced securities law as a partner at Heller, Ehrman, White & McAuliffe. Michael holds a B.A. from Dartmouth College and a J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania Law School.
Michael Flynn, Director
Michael brings to Calix's board of directors extensive experience in advising and managing companies in the technology and telecommunications industries. Michael has served in a variety of capacities including group vice president, at ALLTEL Corporation, an integrated telecommunications provider of wireless, local telephone, long-distance, competitive local exchange, Internet, and high-speed data services. Michael serves on the Board of Directors at Airspan Networks, a publicly-traded company providing wireless broadband access equipment. He is a member of the board of directors and audit and compensation committees of Atlantic Tel-Networks, a publicly-held, diversified telecommunications services provider, and he is owner and president of Deli Planet Inc., a privately-held company. Michael previously served on the board of directors of WebEx Communications, Inc., Equity Media Holdings Corporation, and iLinc, each a publicly-held company, and GENBAND Inc., a privately-held company. Michael earned his B.S. degree in Industrial Engineering from Texas A&M University in 1970. He attended the Dartmouth Institute in 1986 and the Harvard Advanced Management Program in 1988.
Adam Grosser, Director
Adam is a managing director and group head of Silver Lake Kraftwerk, a division of global private investment firm Silver Lake, which focuses on investments in growth companies in the energy and resources sectors. From September 2000 until October 2010, Adam served as a general partner of Foundation Capital, a venture capital firm. Prior to joining Foundation Capital, Adam was president of Excite@Home's 1,400-person Subscriber Networks division, as well as co-founder, president, and CEO of Catapult Entertainment. Adam also worked at technology innovators Apple Computer, Lucasfilm, and Sony in engineering and management capacities. During the past five years, Adam formerly served on the boards of directors of Control4 Corporation, Conviva, Inc., GridIron Systems Inc., Numerate, Inc., Sentient Energy, Inc., SiBEAM, Inc., and Silver Spring Networks, Inc., each a privately held company, as well as EnerNOC, Inc., Rohati Systems, Inc., which was acquired by Cisco, and Naverus, Inc., which was acquired by GE Aviation. Adam holds a BA in applied science, as well as a master's degree in science and an MBA from Stanford University.
Michael Matthews, Chief Corporate Development Officer for AGT International GMBH
Michael brings to the Calix board of directors 30 years of experience in the technology industry and a strong background in telecommunications, software, technology, and innovation. Michael is currently chief corporate development officer for AGT International GMBH. In this capacity he is responsible for AGT's research and development, new business ventures, and marketing. Prior to joining AGT in 2012, Michael served as head of strategy and business development at Nokia Siemens Networks and directed the company's strategic planning and investments, mergers and acquisitions program, and strategic alliances and partnerships. Michael has also served as chief marketing officer at Amdocs Inc., executive vice president, sales and marketing, at Groove Networks (a privately held software company, which was acquired by Microsoft Corporation). Prior to this, he served in leadership positions across technology companies in the United States and Australia such as Platinum Technology, Inc. a database management software company (acquired by Computer Associates, Inc.), Sterling Software, a software company (also acquired by Computer Associates, Inc.), and Digital Equipment Corporation (acquired by Compaq Computer Corporation). Michael has a degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Queensland, Australia.
Thomas Pardun, Director
Thomas (Tom) Pardun has served as chairman of the board of directors of Western Digital Corporation, a manufacturer of hard-disk drives for the personal computer and home entertainment markets, since March 2007. He previously served as chairman of Western Digital from January 2000 to November 2001, and he has served as a director of Western Digital since January 1993. In July 2000, Tom retired as president of MediaOne International, Asia-Pacific (formerly US West Asia-Pacific), an owner/operator of international properties in cable television, telephone services, and wireless communications. Prior to that, he served as president and chief executive officer of US West Multimedia Communications, Inc. and held numerous other executive positions with US West. Prior to joining US West, Tom was president of the Central Group for Sprint as well as president of Sprint's West Division. He also served as senior vice president of United Telecommunications, a predecessor company to Sprint. Tom spent the first 19 years of his career at IBM. Tom served on the board of directors of Occam Networks, Inc. from September 2004 to January 2011. In addition to Western Digital Corporation, he serves on the boards of CalAmp Corporation, Finisar Corporation, and MaxLinear, Inc., each a publicly-held company. Tom received a B.B.A. in economics and marketing from the University of Iowa and Management School Certificates from Harvard Business School, Stanford University, and The Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College.
